🎬 Pauline老師的音樂札記 #08｜走進 Carnegie Hall：音樂探索的開始與延續
我第一次接觸到 Carnegie Hall 的 Musical Explorers 計畫，是在我成為全職音樂老師的第二年，也就是 2018–2019 學年。那時的我正摸索著如何讓音樂課走出教材框架、走進學生的生命經驗。而 Musical Explorers 這個計畫，正好給了我一個美好的開端。
這是一個融合多元文化、實地體驗與課堂教學的完整課程。每學年有兩季（秋季與春季），每季都介紹三種來自不同文化的音樂風格。不僅有錄音檔、影片、教師手冊，還有實體演出讓學生們親身參與。
最開始的幾年，我是透過 Donors Choose 募資申請這套資源，後來學校校長與家長會也開始支持這個計畫，讓我能每年都帶著二年級的學生一起參與。
🎹 從教室到舞台：音樂旅程的真實節奏
每次帶學生前往 Carnegie Hall 都是件既期待又緊湊的事。從下東城搭乘校車到曼哈頓中城，有時會遇上塞車或交通延誤。也因此，我們幾次都錯過了音樂會一開始的主題曲；演出結束後，也常常得立刻離開，因為下一場音樂會在半小時後又要開始，整個場館需要清場。
但儘管行程匆忙，我還是覺得一切都值得。
因為一旦踏進演出場地，現場的燈光、音效、表演者的專業度，甚至舞台節奏與氣氛，都讓我不只一次驚呼：「這也太精彩了吧！」孩子們坐在觀眾席裡，能唱、能動、能參與，而不是只是安靜觀看。這就是 Musical Explorers 的魅力。
🎭 百老匯等級的主持人：Mufasa！
最近幾年的主持人是百老匯音樂劇《獅子王》中飾演 Mufasa（獅子王爸爸）的 L. Steven Taylor。他不僅聲音溫暖渾厚，現場帶動氣氛的能力也一流。這樣的主持人組合，讓整場音樂會更像是一場教育性質的舞台劇。

👧 我的孩子也曾是觀眾
在我開始接觸這個項目的頭幾年，我的女兒還小。我除了平日帶學生參加學校場次，也曾在週末帶她和朋友們參加 Family Concert。親子一起坐在觀眾席上，唱歌、拍手、跳舞，那些畫面至今仍在我心中閃閃發光。
🎵 我第一次聽到主題曲時，感動到落淚
每一場 Musical Explorers 音樂會的開場與結尾，觀眾都會一起唱一首叫做 “Musical Explorers Theme Song” 的歌。旋律溫暖而動人，歌詞簡單卻真誠。那年我第一次親耳聽到時，眼淚竟然默默流下來。那是一種很純粹的感動，也很感恩我能到卡內基廳參加workshop。

Since Fall 2018, I’ve introduced my 2nd-grade students to Carnegie Hall’s Musical Explorers program every year. It’s a multicultural music education experience that combines classroom learning with vibrant live concerts. Each season, students explore three different music traditions — and this spring, they’ll be learning about:
- Zimbabwean Mbira
- Mexican Son Jarocho
- Georgian Folk Music
The concerts are interactive, with students singing, clapping, and dancing along from their seats. Even though the trips are often tight on time, the professional sound, lights, and performances make it absolutely worth it. One highlight? The host in recent years is L. Steven Taylor, who plays Mufasa in The Lion King on Broadway!
🎵 Don’t miss the beautiful Musical Explorers Theme Song — it opens and closes every concert and still brings tears to my eyes.
